Heisman Connections In 2025 College Football Hall Of Fame Class

The National Football Foundation (NFF) & College Hall of Fame announced on Wednesday 18 players and four coaches that will make up the 2025 College Football Hall of Fame Class, including five players that finished in the top 5 of Heisman voting and two coaches who directed Heisman winners.

Included in the latest class of Hall of Famers is Wisconsin running back Montee Ball (fourth in the Heisman voting in 2011), Notre Dame quarterback Terry Hanratty (third in 1968, ninth in 1967, sixth in 1966), Texas Tech quarterback Graham Harrell (fourth in 2008), West Virginia running back Steve Slaton (fourth in 2006) and Virginia Tech quarterback Michael Vick (third in 1999, sixth in 2000). 

Vick was a Heisman finalist in 1999 while Ball was a finalist in 2011.

Among the four coaches elected to the Hall of Fame were Urban Meyer and Nick Saban. Meyer coached 2007 Heisman winner and three-time Heisman finalist (2007-09) Tim Tebow as well as 2004 finalist Alex Smith and 2018 finalist Dwayne Haskins.

Saban coached four Heisman recipients, including 2009’s Mark Ingram, 2015’s Derrick Henry, 2020’s DeVonta Smith and 2021’s Bryce Young. Saban also coached 2011 finalist Trent Richardson, 2013 finalist AJ McCarron, 2014 finalist Amari Cooper, 2018 finalist Tua Tagovailoa and 2020 finalist Mac Jones.

The 2025 College Football Hall of Fame Class will officially be inducted during the 67th NFF Annual Awards Dinner Presented by Las Vegas on Dec. 9, 2025, at Bellagio Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas.
