It’s official: Kyler Murray picks football over baseball
Heisman Trophy winner Kyler Murray announced today that he has decided to pursue a football career.
“Football has been my love and passion my entire life,” Murray wrote in a picture posted to Twitter. “I was raised to play QB, and I very much look forward to dedicating 100% of myself to being the best QB possible and winning NFL championships. I have started an extensive training program to further prepare myself for upcoming NFL workouts and interviews. I eagerly await the opportunity to continue to prove to NFL decision makers that I am the franchise QB in this draft.”
The former Oklahoma quarterback was due to report to the Oakland A’s for spring training this Friday. Instead, he’ll start getting ready for the 2019 NFL draft and make an appearance at the annual scouting combine on Feb. 26.
Murray is hoping to become the 56th Heisman winner selected in the first round of the NFL draft.
