Few players in recent memory have matched the passion and desire that Tim Tebow displayed on the football field during his college career. The 2007 Heisman winner from Florida was known for exhorting his teams to victory, sometimes carrying them through sheer physical will.
So it’s fitting that the Tim Tebow Foundation will celebrate its five-year anniversary this February with an event focused on those who don’t always have the means to enjoy what most of us take for granted.
The Foundation — one of the many charities supported by the Heisman Trust — has launched an initiative to create ‘Night to Shine’ proms in up to 50 different cities across the country. The vision of ‘Night to Shine’ is to provide an extraordinary prom night experience centered on God’s love for people with special needs, ages 16 and older.
“We are so excited to be able to create this opportunity for thousands of people around the country with special needs,” said Tebow. “This event perfectly fits our mission to bring faith, hope and love to those needing a brighter day in their darkest hour of need.”
This nationwide event will take place on February 13, 2015, simultaneously at participating churches across the country. Each prom will include special elements, consisting of a red carpet entrance with paparazzi, limousine rides, hair and makeup beauty stations, shoeshines, a dance floor, food and much more. At least 100 people with special needs are expected to be in attendance at each church for this nationwide event.
