Another wild weekend of college football. Here’s what the pundits are saying:
— Michigan coached called Wolverines linebacker Jabrill Peppers a Heisman candidate while also comparing him to Jim Thorpe.
“To be able to coach a guy like Jabrill Peppers is a real joy. There’s so much more. There’s nothing he can’t do. It’s the darndest thing I’ve ever seen. My humble opinion is we are looking for a Heisman Trophy winner, candidate,” Harbaugh said. “Jim Thorpe, it just came to me. Only player I can think of comparing Jabrill to.”
— Tacoma News-Tribune columnist John McGrath believes Washington’s Jake Browning and Washington State’s Luke Falk are both rising in the Heisman conversation.

Here’s how the NFL Heisman winners fared this past weekend:
— Marcus Mariota had his best game of the year, throwing for 3 touchdowns and rushing for another (223 yards of offense) in Tennessee’s 30-17 victory over Miami.
— Derrick Henry had seven carries for 54 yards against the Dolphins.
— Sam Bradford threw for 271 yards and 2 TDs on 22 of 30 passing in Minnesota’s 31-13 win over Houston.
— Carson Palmer did not play against the 49ers due to a concussion.
— Mark Ingram was off due to a bye week.
— It’s a Heisman vs. Heisman battle on Monday night as Cam Newton and the Panthers take on Jameis Winston and Tampa Bay.
