The Buzz
Heisman ballots go out to voters in a couple weeks. Here’s what the pundits are saying about the race for the most prestigious trophy in sports…
— ESPN’s Josh Moyer thinks Penn State RB Saquon Barkley belongs in the Heisman talk.
Barkley is averaging more yards per carry (6.3) than Florida State’sDalvin Cook(5.8). He has more explosive runs of 20-plus yards (15) than Texas’D’Onta Foreman(13). And he has faced a more difficult stretch of defenses than San Diego State’sDonnel Pumphrey, or any other Heisman-contending running back for that matter.
— CBSSports.com’s Dennis Dodd says that Louisville QB Lamar Jackson has clinched the Heisman.
— Look out for D’Onta Foreman in the Heisman race, writes the Austin-American Statesman. The Texas RB had 341 yards this past weekend.
— Jim Harbaugh claims his quarterback Wilton Speight should be a Heisman candidate.

Browning threw for 378 yards and six touchdowns to set Washington’s single-season record for touchdown passes with 34, and the Huskies beat Cal 66-27 on Saturday night in Berkeley. However, the game didn’t end until after 11 p.m. Pacific time – that’s 2 a.m. Eastern, not including the hour applied for turning back the clock.

— Archie Griffin prefers Jackson to Michigan’s Jabrill Peppers for the Heisman.
Odds and Ends

— Marcus Allen helped inspire Mark Ingram to one of his best days as a pro.
“I’ve known Marcus for almost seven, eight years now, ever since I won the Heisman, and he’s always been great at giving advice,” said Ingram, who ran for 158 yards — including a career-long 75-yard touchdown — a week after being benched for fumbling issues.
