Week five of the 2018 college football season is now complete.

Time for our traditional weekly feature that rounds up the latest Heisman news and updates from around the media world.

The Buzz

— Quarterbacks lead the way in the Houston Chronicle’s Heisman watch.

— Tua Tagovailoa is on top of The Athletic’s latest Heisman straw poll.  But can he win with his numbers?

— According to Heavy.com, the stock of West Virginia quarterback Will Grier is on the rise.

— The top 10 candidates from 247Sports.com.

— Did Eric Dungey have a Heisman moment for Syracuse against Clemson?

— A look at why Clemson running back Travis Etienne should be a Heisman candidate.

— The latest speaking engagement for Tim Tebow.

— Jameis Winston is ready to return to Tampa Bay’s starting lineup.

— Johnny Manziel threw his first two Canadian Football League touchdown passes over the weekend.  He also wrote a letter to Baker Mayfield.

Heisman NFL Update

Marcus Mariota had a huge game, throwing for 344 yards and 2 TDs, while also rushing for 46 yards and a TD as the Titans beat the Eagles, 26-23.

Derrick Henry ran 8 times for 24 yards against Philadelphia.

Baker Mayfield went 21 of 41 for 295 yards and 2 TDs, but the Browns lost to the Raiders, 45-42.

Lamar Jackson had 4 carries for 17 yards as the Ravens beat the Steelers.

Cam Newton and the Panthers had a bye week. Sam Bradford was inactive, as was Robert Griffin III. Mark Ingram and Winston did not play due to suspension.
