Heisman Winner Hunter Works Out At Colorado Buffaloes Pro Day

Colorado 2024 Heisman Trophy winner Travis Hunter.

The first round of the 2025 NFL Draft is set for April 24, which means 2024 Heisman winner Travis Hunter is less than three weeks away from finding out which NFL team will be signing his first professional football paychecks.

As of today (April 4), Hunter has wrapped up three showcases with NFL teams, although most of his work has been in meetings with team personnel compared to the workouts most other players do.

On a winter-like spring day in Boulder, the Colorado Buffaloes held what head coach Deion Sanders dubbed the “We Ain’t Hard 2 Find Showcase” at the Buffs’ training facility. Representatives from across the NFL descended to watch Hunter as well as Sanders’ son and Hunter’s teammate Shedeur Sanders — who finished eighth in the 2024 Heisman balloting — and their fellow draft-eligible Buff teammates.

Hunter did not speak with media after today’s workout in Boulder, instead letting his crisp moves on the field do the talking.

Similar to the NFL Combine and the Big 12 Pro Day, Hunter didn’t work out, although he did serve as a receiver for Sanders today during the quarterback’s throwing drills.

Here he is catching passes for Sanders today. And here as well.

The general consensus is that Hunter will be among the top 5 players taken in the NFL draft, possibly as high as first overall.

IF he were to be drafted first, he would become the 26th Heisman winner to go first overall in the NFL Draft and the sixth Heisman winner to go first overall among the last seven winners, which includes Caleb Williams to Chicago (2024), Bryce Young to Carolina (2023), Joe Burrow to Cincinnati (2020), Kyler Murray to Arizona (2019) and Baker Mayfield to Cleveland (2018).

Including Jayden Daniels, who went second overall in 2024, seven of the last eight winners have gone in the top 2.

A top 5 draft of Hunter would make him the 44th Heisman winner to be taken in top 5 and the 62nd drafted in the first round.
