The 84th Heisman Trophy winner will be announced tonight at the PlayStation Theater in mid-town Manhattan.

Depending on who wins, here is what it will mean:

If he wins the Heisman…

… he’d win Ohio State’s eighth Heisman Trophy (but would be its seventh Heisman winner), and its first since Troy Smith won in 2006.
… he’d be the first Big Ten player to win the Heisman since Smith in 2006.
… his would be the 16th Heisman won from a player on a current Big Ten conference school.
… he’d be the fifth sophomore to win the award.
… he’d be the 11th non-senior in the last 12 years to win the award.
… he’d become the 16th quarterback in the last 18 years to win the Heisman and 34th overall.
… his 47 touchdown passes would be the second-most in Heisman history to Sam Bradford’s 48.
… his combined 51 touchdowns running and passing would tie with Lamar Jackson for the third-highest total in Heisman history.
… he’d be the fifth player to win the Heisman wearing the No. 7 and first since Eric Crouch in 2001.
… he’d be the first Heisman winner from Maryland.

If he finishes second

… he’d be the fourth Ohio State player to finish as Heisman runner up.

If he finishes third

… he would join Troy Smith and Rex Kern (1969) as the only Buckeye quarterbacks to log top 3 Heisman finishes.

… he’d be Oklahoma’s seventh Heisman winner.
… he’d be the first player to win the Heisman the season after replacing another Heisman winner.
