USC Unveils Its 8 Heisman Banners, Daniels Honored At LSU Game, Griffin Dots the “I”

USC Unveiled its 8 Heisman Banners ahead of its season-opener against Utah State on Saturday.

The Heisman Trophy has had a busy first few weeks of the 2024 season and has logged enough airline miles to almost qualify for frequent flyer elite status.

First, it took a trip to Ireland to help open the season along with Georgia Tech and Florida State.

It then crossed about a third of all time zones and appeared at the USC-LSU game in Las Vegas last Sunday (Sept. 1), on hand for a presentation for 2023 Heisman winner Jayden Daniels.

2023 Heisman winner Jayden Daniels was presented with his Heisman during the LSU-USC game in Las Vegas on Sept. 1.

But Daniels wasn’t the only Heisman winner on the sidelines of the Trojans-Tigers tilt that ended with a late USC victory.

A trio of Trojan Heisman winners were in attendance, including national-title-winning teammates Matt Leinart and Reggie Bush as well as Marcus Allen.

USC has the most Heisman Trophy-winning players in college football history  – eight – thanks to Caleb Williams’ in 2022 and Bush’s reinstatement earlier this year.

That allowed the Trojans’ home — the L.A. Coliseum — to update its USC Game Day adornment.

On Thursday (Sept. 5), USC Athletics and the venerable stadium unveiled the eight new banners that reside in the peristyle end of the Coliseum that honor all of the Trojan Heisman winners.

Williams and Daniels, by the way, will make their NFL regular-season debuts on Sunday. Williams and the Chicago Bears host Tennessee while Daniels and the Washington Commanders travel to Tampa Bay.

USC was led to victory over LSU by QB Miller Moss. A few days after the win, USC’s social media team unearthed this photo gem, a young Moss, about 10 years old, posing with Leinart.

Also last weekend, two-time Heisman winner Archie Griffin was honored in Ohio State’s season-opener by getting to “Dot the i” in the Buckeyes’ band pregame performance, the first ever Buckeye player to have the honor.
